COVID-19 FAQ

+ Will you be opening in September?

Yes, we will open for the 2020-21 School Year on September 14th.

+ Will masks be required for students and staff?

We will not be requiring but encouraging the use of masks for our students during certain parts of the day. Wearing masks enable us to have more flexibility in the activities we offer. We will limit the use of masks as much as possible. Staff will be required to wear them when a 6’ distance cannot be maintained.

+ Do staff and children get health screenings daily?

Yes, a health screening questionnaire needs to be answered and a visual screening will be done.

+ How do children arrive in the morning?

We will have a staggered drop off. Parents will walk their child to the entrance of the school.

+ How are children picked up after class?

Parents will message their child’s teacher when they are in the parking lot. A teacher will walk the child to the entrance door. Parents will self-distance while they wait outside or wait in their car until they see their child.

+ What cleaning procedures are used?

Highly Touched Surfaces: These surfaces will be disinfected continuously throughout the day with Force of Nature natural cleaner.

Manipulatives/Classroom Materials: Buckets of manipulatives and reusable classroom materials are available for use daily. The manipulatives will be rotated throughout the day and disinfected. When the class is out of the room, at the end of the day or when necessary, all manipulatives and reusable classroom materials will be disinfected daily with Force of Nature.

Bathroom: The bathroom fixtures will be cleaned after each use with an EPA approved store-bought cleaner or with a 1/3 c bleach to 1 gallon of water mixture that is made daily.

Classrooms: Will be disinfected during gym time and after school. Windows will be opened, and classroom will be disinfected and sanitized with Force of Nature or Pure and Clean.

Gym: Shared equipment will be disinfected after each class.

+ Is hand sanitizer used?

We will use a 70% alcohol hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the school, after putting on and taking masks, and other times as needed throughout the day.

+ How often is hand washing done?

Students and staff will wash their hands before and after snack, after using the restroom, and other times as needed throughout the day.

+ How will you handle Social Distancing?

  • Staggered drop off and pick up.
  • Children will be assigned spots: lap trays, floor markers for circle time and table time that are at least 6 feet apart.
  • Children will be taught to social distance by putting their arms out to the side and making sure they cannot touch another person.

+ Who else is allowed in the classroom?

Only teachers and children are regularly allowed in the classroom.

+ Is there outside time?

Weather permitting, we will take walks, have circle time and snack outside as much as possible.

+ Are children’s personal items allowed in school?

All personal items will be left in their own cubby located in the hallway near their classroom door.

+ What if there is a Positive Case of COVID?

MMNS will notify the Local Board of Health and the Dept. of Early Education and Care. LBH will determine the necessary protocol we will follow.

+ What if there is another mandatory shut down?

During a prolonged shutdown, we will transition to distance learning. As a private school we want your child to continue with their learning and our teachers will be paid during this time. The upcoming tuition payment(s) will be half of the contractual monthly payment. Once school resumes, upcoming and remaining tuition payments will revert to the full contractual amount.

+ What is Distance Learning?

Online opportunities for teachers and students to interact and for students to continue learning the material that is part of their classroom’s curriculum. It will consist of one or two Zoom meetings per week, daily videos and online links for stories and activities through class dojo based on the age of the class and days attended. Offline materials will be provided upon request.
