FLU Season

What an unrelenting season it has been.  Thank you to all who have been keeping their children home when they are not feeling well.  It has helped to keep our school as healthy as possible.

Reminder of our health care policy: We want the school to be a healthy environment for all. Please contact us, if your child will be absent due to illness.  Any contagious disease (chicken pox, conjunctivitis, head lice, strep throat, influenza etc.) needs us to discreetly inform the other parents what is going around.  This is to make you aware, not scare you.

All children must be free of an elevated temperature, diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours without the use of medications, before he/she is to come to school. If your child is on an antibiotic, we ask that the child remain out of school for 24 hours after the medication has been started.

Please keep your child at home when he/she displays diarrhea, vomiting, an unusual rash, eye inflammation, severe cough, congestion or an extremely runny nose.

Children will be excluded from the program if running a temperature or showing other symptoms of illness, vomiting, infectious diarrhea, pain or severe discomfort, are too sick to participate, or have a contagious disease or infection.

Sanitizing Policy

Please take a moment to review our Sanitizing Policy in our Handbook which is posted in the Parent’s Lounge.

Christmas Singalong/Party

We ended 2019 a little crazy. Our T/Th younger classes missed their Christmas Party and sing along due to the weather. Santa arrived early from the North Pole; I want to thank all the parents who were very patient as he visited our children. Your children did a great job at the sing along. Who knew we would be singing in rounds. Thank you to the parents who supplied our treats. There were lots of happy faces at the party and at the gift exchange.

A special Thank you to the Newburyport Fire Department for making Santa’s visit happen.

We will be having Mrs. Mirra’s and Mrs. Murphy’s classes’ party on Thursday, January 2nd.

September 2018

WELCOME TO MRS. MURRAY’S NURSERY SCHOOL:

For some it may be your first year, second year or even your third year at Mrs. Murray’s. We welcome everyone for an exciting year of learning and making new friends.  We want your first day to be happy and fun.

To help with first day jitters for parents and children, we suggest making a “quick exit.” Bring your child into their classroom, greet the teachers, tell your child he/she will have an awesome day, and “I can’t wait to hear about your day at pick up”, give them a big hug and kiss and say good bye. Let the classroom teachers take over and work their “magic” to get them started with their school day.  We have found over the years of teaching if you prolong your goodbye, it prolongs your child’s chance to settle in J.

If you have a reluctant child, you may give the office a call 978-462-2441 at any time and I will go into the class and check on your child for you.

TEACHER UPDATE:

It was with great sadness that Mrs. Joanne Wilson let us know she would not be able to teach on Tuesdays/Thursdays due to a conflicting bank schedule. She hopes she will be able to substitute for us at some point.  We will miss her.  Mrs. Kim Mirra will teach Tuesday/Thursdays and Mrs. Becky Parseghian will be her assistant.

MEET AND GREET:

Three Day Program: Monday September 10, 2018 from 9-10 am

Two Day and PreK Four/Five Day Program:  Tuesday September 11, 2018 from 9-10am

If your child is attending the Preschool Four or Five-day program, you may attend either day or both.

Please check in at the table in the entry way. Parents who need to update their child’s folder will be asked to do so and everyone needs to sign the Handbook Acknowledgement page.  An email was sent out on August 30th with the updated handbook. If you did not receive it, please let me know.

Please take a name tag for you and your child and proceed to your child’s classroom.

If you have any questions about the Meet and Greet or which day to attend, please email me at etingley@mapreschools.com.

Our first field trip will be to Apple Crest Farm, 133 Exeter Road (RT 88) Hampton Falls, NH www.applecrest.com.  Their field trip coordinator advised us to do the Green Apple Tour instead of the Red Apple Tour due to the ages of our students.  She stated the machinery is really loud.  Drop off will be at the farm at 9:45 am and pick up will be at 11:00. If you would like to join us it is a great opportunity to meet other parents. The cost is $5.00.  We will have a signup sheet in the hall the week of the 17th.  Payment is due at that time.  You may pay in cash or by check payable to MMNS.  This is not a sibling friendly field trip.
